- Respite – Services are designed to provide relief, aid, and emergency services to families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a service where family members can obtain a sense of relief knowing that their children are safe and cared for with highly qualified and efficient services.
- Family Consultation – Family Consultation Services are provided to further educate family members about autism spectrum disorder and ways to mitigate unwanted behaviors. A treatment plan is often created with the family.
- Life Skills – Life skills coaching is provided individually or in group settings to foster effective and smooth transition to middle school, high school, college and/or adulthood. The skilled provider will educate the individual with managing finances, safety awareness, independence, dressing appropriately for the weather, legal aid, exploitation, self-awareness, employment, problem solving skills, and adaptive daily living skills. Specialized workshops are also provided and open to the public. A treatment plan is customized to each client.
- Recreational Mentoring – Recreational mentoring is designed to improve and maintain the physical, mental and emotional well-being of clients served. A variety of techniques will be used including arts, crafts, service animals, sports, games, dance and movement, drama, music and community outings. This recreational and creative approach provides a non-threatening environment that may help to reduce depression, stress and anxiety; and therefore, build confidence, increase motivation, independence and provide an effective way to communicate with others. The mentor will work directly with the mentee in an effort to create a specialized treatment plan tailored to the individual’s needs.
- Horse Back Riding – Our special therapy program utilizes animals such as therapy dogs and horses as an intervention designed to improve socialization skills, interpersonal relations, motor coordination, emotional dysregulation and coping mechanisms to effectively handle conflicts that may arise in everyday life. The psychological advantages of this non-traditional treatment will aid the client with increased self-confidence, increased interest to explore the outside world, enhanced patience, emotional control, self-discipline, fulfillment and enjoyment. CARAFAP conducts monthly horse riding events for our clients.
- Special Events, Training & Workshops – CARAFAP sponsors quarterly and yearly events to fundraise and help support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those who have a mental health diagnosis. Such events are designed to increase awareness, advocacy and educate the general public. Training & Workshops can be customized upon an agency’s needs.
