
Traditional DDA Services
CARAFAP’s Approved Traditional DDA Services:

Family Peer Mentoring – Family and Peer Mentoring Supports connects you and family members, including siblings, to peer mentors with experiences like yours. Peer mentors can explain community services, programs, and strategies they have used to obtain resources, supports, and services. This can help you and your family members learn about and access community resources beyond those offered through the DDA Waiver.

Family Caregiving Training and Empowerment – Family Caregiver Training and Empowerment Services cover costs for educational materials, training programs, workshops, and conferences that help your unpaid family caregiver:

Understand your unique abilities and challenges

Enhance their ability to support you

Develop and get community and other resources and supports

Develop or enhance parenting skills

Develop or enhance advocacy skills

Participant Education, Training, and Advocacy – Participation Education, Training, and Advocacy Supports can help you learn more about how to develop self-advocacy skills, knowledge and skills to live your good life. It can cover the cost of a training program, workshop or conference.

Respite (Day and Hourly) – Services are designed to provide relief, aid, and emergency services to families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a service where family members can obtain a sense of relief knowing that their children are safe and cared for with highly qualified and efficient services.

Career Exploration – This is a short-term service to help you learn new skills you will need in a competitive and integrated job you are interested in.

Personal Supports, with virtual options available – Personal supports enable waiver participants to accomplish tasks that they would normally do for themselves if they did not have a disability. Personal supports take the form of hands-on assistance (actually performing a task for the person) or cuing to prompt the participant to perform a task. Personal support is provided on an episodic or on a continuous basis.

Community Development Services – Meaningful Day can occur in a group setting of 1 to 1 or 1 to 4 ratio size which is contingent upon an individual HRST. Under this model, CARAAP services individuals who are 18 and up. Such services are conducted in the community and CARAFAP for approved activities such as Zam Dance or agency events.

Transportation – The purpose of this program is designed to provide transportation services for non-medical appointments, obtain community access, and utilize third-party vendors such as Uber, Lyft, and/or metro.

Residential Services (for children and adults) – This service provides wraparound living support to children and adults
